Family legend has it that SeanBhéar's ancestors came "over the water" probably from Galway sometime in the mid 1800's, looking for a better life, like many others.
The story would be worth research, for the pages of Anglo-Irish history make interesting, if sometimes bitter reading. The descendents married Scots, Welsh and Northern partners and you may be sure the Celtic spirit still runs deep and true.
SeanBhéar first started singing Irish songs during the folk music boom of the sixties era. Fortunately for audiences he accepted the strength of is voice was rather better than its' quality, so he started to play the whistle.
Time passed until he eventually became a full-time professional in 2003. He started as a licensed busker on the London Underground system, where he still plays occasionally, though most of his work now is at private parties, Irish themed pubs, restaurants and folk clubs etc.
The first CD is selling well and three more are in various stages of planning as is a book of the music. If you wish to receive updates, please email SeanBhéar. |
